    South Bay Union School District is committed to preparing students to be college and career ready. Through the use of multiple assessment tools we strive to support all learners in meeting their academic goals. Schools in South Bay use the following measures to assess where students are and where they need to be:

    • CELDT Testing to identify English langugae proficiency
    • Smarter Balanced Summative Test- a computer-adaptive test, aligned to Common Core State Standards
    • California Standards Test (CAST) in Science given to 5th and 8th grade students only
    • Modified and Alternative tests for identified students- CAA
    • Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) or Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System
    • Systematic ELD ongoing assessments
    • Physical Fitness Testing for 5th and 7th grade students only
    • Ongoing classroom  formative and summative assessments
