The South Bay Union School District Education Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation organized and operated for the benefit of the school children of the South Bay Union School District.  We have a Board of Directors that is made up of thirteen parents, educators, and community leaders who volunteer their time and knowledge.  These members include:  Dana Tomlinson, President; Helen Steel, Vice President; Dee McLean, Secretary; Margaret Blogg, Treasurer; Melanie Ellsworth, Board of Trustees Member; Josie Dorado; Chris Howell; Belinda Lynn; Kelly McCoy; Mary Parsons; and Mayda Winter.

The goal is to solicit, manage, and disburse voluntary contributions to provide financial support for educational and enrichment programs for the students in the communities served by the South Bay Union School District.  The foundation provides a way to support excellence in our schools on a tax-deductible basis.  Contributions may be used for pre-school through 8th grade programs to serve more children; parent education; teacher staff development; visual and performing arts; science; environmental education; after school programs; technology; and English as a Second Language Bilingual Enrichment Programs.

The Education Foundation benefits everyone!  Students are provided with special programs and learning materials that would not normally be available; businesses share their resources and reap the benefits of competent, career-oriented students who will later enter the workforce; teachers are awarded scholarships to help them enrich classroom knowledge and use innovative learning aids; and community members gain confidence in our education system through their involvement with the school and students.

With pressure growing to increase academic achievement, but not to increase taxes, we supplement existing programs and services in the schools and provide funding through supportive donors.  As a business or individual who has a vested interest in producing a qualified, educated workforce, we welcome your interest and contributions.
