T.B. CLEARANCE GUIDELINES

All District employees must have a current T.B. clearance on file per California Education Code Section 49406 and South Bay Union Elementary School District Board Policy 4312.4.

PPD

For employees that have a negative PPD reading, the clearance is good for four years. After four years, the employee is required to get a new PPD test.

 X-RAY

For employees that have a positive PPD reading, it is required that an x-ray be taken and read by a physician. The clearance is good for four years. After four years, employees need to answer a symptom questionnaire and have it signed by a health care professional. If cleared by the health care professional, the x-ray is considered clear for another three years. After seven years (per San Diego County Department of Health), a new x-ray must be taken to determine whether the employees lungs are free of tuberculosis. The above process repeats.
